In celebration of the bicentennial of Florence Nightingale’s birth, the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020, The Year of the Nurse and Midwife. For the first time in history, health organizations around the world unite in commemorating the professions of nursing and midwifery, recognizing the global impact they provide.

“While WHO recognizes their crucial role on a daily basis, 2020 will be dedicated to highlighting the enormous sacrifices and contributions of nurses and midwives, and to ensuring that we address the shortage of these vital professions.” - World Health Organization
