Travel Spotlight: Utica

Date published: February 19, 2020

Adventure awaits! Stat Staff Professionals offers exclusive contracts in a variety of exciting locations. For our first installment, we’re focusing on Utica, New York!

Utica is nestled between New York State’s capital, Albany, and neighboring city Syracuse. It offers endless opportunities for travel nurses with a vast variety of amenities.

Enjoy 900 acres of city parks where you can bike, hike, walk, or run. Don't miss out on the Saranac Brewery, where you will find original beers, great food, and maybe even catch a concert. Enjoy local cuisine like Utica's original Chicken Riggies, half – moons, Utica pizza (sauce on top), cannoli's, and Utica greens.

If you love the arts, Munson Williams Proctors Art Institute features an extensive permanent collection, as well as rotating exhibitions. The Stanley Center for the Arts is home to the Mohawk Valley Ballet and the Utica Symphony Orchestra.

If you're an animal lover, the Utica Zoo has various animal exhibits from all around the world to see. The best part is that it's always open, 363 days a year! Golfers are also in luck. Utica is home to eleven golf courses. If you love nature and outdoor activity, the Adirondacks are only a short drive north and provide hiking and fishing for all experience levels and breathtaking sights to take in.

Not in the mood to drive? Take a scenic train ride aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad and sit back, relax and enjoy. Turning Stone Casino is just a short drive away in Verona, NY, and is home to multiple music venues for people with all tastes to enjoy. Not only that, but it has great restaurants/buffets to eat at and the usual slots and card tables that you'd come to expect.
