On October 20th, Stat Staff Professional participated and sponsored the 17th Annual “Walk to Strike out ALS” walk in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Kelsey: "The walk is to benefit the ALS Center in Albany. The ALS Center is a place where patients and families can come for emotional and physical support."
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), is a degenerative neuromuscular disease affecting motor nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, impacting more than 30,000 Americans.
Kelsey: "And it just helps all the ALS community and their families come together and benefit from all the services that we acquire especially with home care things that can help the process much easier I've been a walker at the walk since I was 9. I have been helping put the walk together since I was 16.
"I got involved with the ALS Center because on October 7th 2003, my uncle passed from ALS at the age of 51. He left behind my aunt (his wife) and his three young boys. Not a lot of people know about it. And when I talk about it still today not a lot of people understand it.
"It's growing pretty fast and it's becoming more frequent. And it's something that we need and we need awareness of it so people understand what exactly it is.”
Stat Staff was able to raise close to $3,000 for the local community, as well as support one of their own employees, who has dedicated over a decade of her life to this organization.
Kelsey: “Since I started at Stat Staff they made it easier for me to be a volunteer at the center. With Stat Staff I didn't realize how genuine the community was for Stat Staff. We were like a giant family and entering into that office, people knew what it was and people had family members who were suffering or had suffered from ALS.
"I felt more at home and this year, in particular. They were full force and they were all there. It was 100% support from Stat Staff. Especially coming from the CEO and hearing that he was supportive of me and my family. And the awareness that I was trying to raise was something I can't even understand, I can't even begin to explain. I was so thankful for it.
"I'm Kelsey Green, I'm the assistant account manager at Stat Staff Professionals.”
